Do you ever feel like that needy child constantly going to your Heavenly Father with one more request?
Lately I’ve been right there in line with you. I almost feel like I need to apologize. “It’s me, again, Father…”
My sister shared this verse with me earlier this week, and I’ve been leaning into it since then.
The Lord longs to be gracious to you;
he rises to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!
Isaiah 30:18
The words remind me that God longs to pour his grace and mercy into my life. He longs to show me his compassion. It is his delight to share his goodness with me.
In fact, it grieves him when I don’t take my needs to him.
I feel the same way as a parent. I desire to know my kids’ needs and love it when I have the opportunity to be there for them. Sometimes all I can do for them is give a hug or simply listen to their burdens. But I like being there for them. The older they get, the more I long for those opportunities and cherish the special moments.
My Heavenly Father is the same way. He longs to extend his compassion to me. He likes it when I call on him, again and again. He loves the opportunity to share his mercy and grace.
Thank goodness.
I will keep going to him.
I will ask for his mercy, grace and compassion. And I know that he will give it because it pleases him to give to his children.
“If you,then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” Matthew 7:11
